There's an upload that justifies the parenthesis of the blog's subtitle. Here's a truly great album, and probably the best known Greek album abroad.
Aphrodite's Child is a prog/psychedelic/kraut band formed in 1967 by: Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards),Demis Roussos (bass guitars/vocals),Loukas Sideras (drums/vocals) and Anargyros "Silver" Koulouris (guitars). The band's name comes from the title of a Dick Cambell song, from the album "Sings Where It's At".Vangelis and Demis had already some success from playing with Formynx and Idols, respectively.Having failed to enter England, they gathered in Paris, where they were to find Anargyros as a guitarist.
666 is a double album, and it's considered to be one of the first cult albums in history, with a popularity which is still apparent to this day.Released in 1972,the album is almost an adaptation of Biblical passages from "The Apocalypse Of John,13/18",with very experimental lyrics and compositions, including a curious piece of performance art in which the actress Irene Papas performs a struggle to chant a mantra while in the throes of hysteria.
The concept of 666,was created by Vangelis along with Costas Ferris. The compositions made by Vangelis, were a combination of psychedelic/progressive rock and ethnic instruments, choral chanting, recitations and a very advanced use of synthesizers and keyboards. The album is considered as one of the genre's best, and it's been part of many lists of that matter.
